Olba (Uğuralanı), Diocaesarea (Uzuncaburç) and Cambazlı

Olba (Uğuralanı), Diocaesarea (Uzuncaburç) were two other episcopacies governed by the archdiocese of Silifke. The archeological activities are still in progress in these antic cities, which have a deep-rooted history and which are the most impressive centers with their archeological remains. Particularly the monastery in Olba, where this work is mostly concentrated, evidences the major settlement in this area during Early Christianity.

The role of Cambazlı in history, however, is still vague because of lack of scientific excavations here, however, the grandiose of the church suggests that this settlement had an unusual nature. The church is quite well maintained and can be claimed to be the most impressive structure in the region. Visitors to this “unchartered territory” of historic settlement will definitely be impressed by this majestic edifice of Early Christianity (5th century A.D.).
